Joe’s Crab Shack
Digital Drawing
Overview
This is a drawing of a crab that I did during a study break last night. I used a reference picture on google to draw the crab in my own personal style. I later added accentuated shadows and highlight to embody the cartoon character of the crab. I had intended to have the text ‘Joe’s Crab Shack’ curved along the top and bottom of the crab. While this would add a bit more of a design feature to the drawing, I could not quite get the text to look good. The text took away from the crab character. Using ‘Trash Junk Food’, I took the text out.
What I Learnt
As I drew this, I definitely strengthened my skills in object composition, and the understanding of shading and highlights. I also explored tools on Adobe Photoshop, using the blur tool to fade out my highlights.
Programs Used
I drew this crab using Adobe Photoshop for the Ipad. I have recently switched from Adobe Illustrator to Adobe Photoshop to do my drawing. I am still exploring the Photoshop features, however it tends to have more options than the vector drawing that Illustrator is intended for.
